Orbs… Are They Paranormal Evidence?
By: Michelle Jackson

What are actual paranormal orbs? Are they energy balls of a deceased person, angels, or something completely different?

After experiencing several unexplained events in my home, I noticed I began to get more orbs in photographs. I thought at first that this was proof of something paranormal. But, then,
I questioned myself… was I just taking more photos because of the activity? Most likely the answer to this is yes. I often took close-up shots of pets, and family members, but rarely
ever took photos of the entire room.

So, I wondered if they were there all along. Are they something not related to paranormal activity? I don’t believe so. I believe that YES, they are related to such activity. I have noticed
my own animals sensing something unseen, and have successfully captured orbs when they were looking in that very direction.

To better understand such beliefs, you must first be willing to open your mind to the possibilities that ghosts, and the like do in fact exist. But, let me say this; all orbs are not in fact
proof positive of such existence.

Orbs in photographs can very well be insects, dust, or some other blemish. You must first discredit such possibilities. I have also noticed what I believe to be “true” photographed
orbs, actually seem to produce their own light, and/or vary in magnificent colors. These also seem to have a very distinctive pattern to them.

Dust, mist, rain, snow and various insects will also produce false orbs. I have spent many hours going over tons of photographs and can honestly say, it’s a tough call. But, after
producing some of my own “hoax orbs” with dust, rain, cat hair, (even carpet fibers!) etc., I believe not all can be explained away. While dust can produce a “lighted” effect, the rest of
the photograph will be fuzzy and blurred. This is because the flash of the camera will actually pick up a flying dust particle at close range, leaving the rest of the photo in a blur.

With this in mind, I wonder what the true nature of these orbs could be. I do believe that real orbs are some kind of energy ball. It is really hard to say, or hard to prove such belief’s.
But many researchers will agree that they take orb photographs with a grain of salt. Some are devout believers that orbs are definite proof of paranormal activity. I myself, being an
avid photographer, believe that yes, these might be proof, but then again, they might be dust or some other flaw.

In every photograph you take, please, do yourself (and the rest of the paranormal community) a favor and also take more than one photograph in every location. This way, you can go
over your photos with confidence. You will be more likely to validate or discredit your claims.

I have an experience to share with you that happened to me just yesterday. My family and I took a trip to the zoo. While there, we went on a tour of a historical site, which was the
original family’s home. They had willed the land to the state for educational purposes with a clause that stated their home and surrounding property couldn’t be tore down.

Behind the home was an old cabin. I decided to take a few quick shots, and in doing so, saw a bright glow on the LCD viewer. I couldn’t wait to get home and upload them to my
computer.

After returning home, I uploaded all of my photos. Luckily I did in fact take several pictures of the cabin. In two photographs the “glow” appeared. After analyzing them, I was able to
discredit them as nothing more than a cobweb that was too close to the camera lens at the time they were shot.

I considered that this was an old undisturbed cabin that was used back in the mid 1800’s, dust, cobwebs were a given. Looking at the angle and the overall “anomaly” I knew it was
in fact a cobweb. I was a bit bummed out, but glad for the fact that I didn’t jump at the chance for proof.

So please keep this in mind when you are out on investigations. Always take more than one photograph at a particular location. Above all, look for other known possibilities to explain
such anomalies. Have other’s look at your evidence and let them voice their own possible explanations.

When you are left with more questions than answers, you may have something that’s just unexplained. Is it proof of paranormal activity? We may never really know.
